Resto Peruvien / Peruvian Restaurant: Casa Peru

Un Resto péruvien je trouvais l'idée originale mais j'avoue que je m'attendais à une cuisine un peu rustique, lourde et pas très évoluée. Surprise, c'est vrai il y a un coté bien mijoté mais les plats sont assez fins, les saveurs multiples et le tout plutot sain et équilibré.
Un exemple, j'ai pris une soupe de crevettes (ok super mauvais pour l'environnement, je sais) mais délicieux qui s'appelle Chupe de Camarones. Je ne jurerais pas que le bouillon de poisson était totalement fait maison, mais il était assez fin et pas trop salé. Les crevettes sont servies avec la coquille et la langoustine qui accompagnait le tout était entière. Ok, pour les végétariens c'est pas très attirant, mais pour le gout du bouillon ça fait une différence.
Nous étions trois et le plat le plus décevant était juste un poisson frit avec des frites ou du riz. Si vous allez chez Casa Peru laissez vous tenter par un vrai plat Péruvien, c'est ce qu'ils savent faire le mieux.
En plus ils ont refait la déco, un mélange de simplicité hollandaise et de couleurs péruviennes plutot chic.

When a friend suggested Casa Peru I was not expecting much of a culinary experience. Probably something a bit heavy and rustique, not very rich. Surprise, the food was actually fine, a lot is simmer with meat or fish, but with multiple flavours and overall the dishes were quite healthy.
As an example the Chupe de Camarones, a shrimp soup. (Ok I know really bad for the environment, but delicious). I would not swear the broth was home made, but it was not too salty. The shrimps where served with their shell and the dublin bay prawn even still had it's head. I know for the veggies reading this lines it is not very attractive. But for the flavour of the broth it makes a difference.
They were three of us, and the least interesting dish was just fried fish with rice or fries. If you go to Casa Peru go for a traditional dish, that is what they are good at.
The place is also quite welcoming, a mix of Dutch simplicity with a touch of Peruvian warm colours and paintings. You can find Casa Peru at the corner of Prinsengracht and Leidsegracht.
