Apple pie at the Winkel.
You have
probably all heard that local food isn't exactly the most exiting part of
living in Amsterdam
Well... there is at least one exception... the Apple Piiiiiie.
You'll find it
in all restaurant and eet
cafe. If there is only one desert on the menu... you already know what it's
going be.
Yet, you'll find, the pie often comes from the deep freeze, and the few raisins
thrown in are the only distinguishable test.
So where should you go to eat a really really nice apple pie?? Your best bet is
definitively the Winkel at the corner of Westerstraat and
Noordermarkt.
If you go on Saturday morning you'll meet at the terrace all the coolest and
chicest "bobo" people of the Jordaan, taking a little break from
their weekly trip to the organic market.
For info, they also make a great mint tea with fresh mint leaves :o) and it was
advised to me as a good place for Sunday brunches.
